FAQs

The Chesley Hospital Foundation is a registered charitable foundation established to raise funds on behalf of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Chesley Site. We provide the hospital with funds for new medical equipment and facility improvements.

Funds are raised through direct mail appeals, in memoriam donations and fundraising events in the community. Donations also come in various other forms, for example; in memoriam, in honour, legacy and estate donations.

No, the Foundation does not make these decisions. Each year, the Foundation receives a list of priority medical equipment needs from the South Bruce Grey Health Centre. The hospital conducts a very extensive capital planning process involving physicians, patient care managers, departmental managers and key stakeholders who prioritize equipment needs for the hospital each year. The prioritized list is reviewed with the Foundation and projects are chosen from a range of departments within the Chesley site.

The government only provides funding to operate the hospital. The full cost of new medical equipment has always been the responsibility of the hospital. We strive to provide our specialist physicians, nurses and technologists with the best equipment to diagnose and treat patients. Medical equipment and technology is constantly changing and improving.

The Chesley Hospital Foundation is extremely grateful for our friends and supporters and we are forever indebted to those who have had such a positive impact on our community. Donations over $1,000 are given the opportunity to have their name on a plaque on our donation wall located at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Chesley site.
